A Wee Nod :: The Vlogversation

Got a little nod from the amazing Ted Hope from his Truly Free Film blog.

Nodding back.

Re-Vlog :: WalkingMan :: Net Cinema Poetics

Guys over @ Taylor Street Studio, Soluble Fish, and Joel Sugarman are making stuff together.

Elegantly done, fellas.

Methinks this was all shot on cell phone.

Video, moving, & mapping for purposes of storytelling.

Streamlined, real-time-to-web, yet long-lasting film making.

This is IT; this is what excites me for development, production and marketing stories.

What kinds of stories can we really 'see' and ' hear' when delivered and taken in from a web site, cell phone, or iPod?

This kind of film making reminds me of Michael Figgis' cutting-edge "Time Code" -- one of my favorite films.

Figgis is a good pianist.

Found Will Leurs' project from his comment over @ one of Ted Hope's blogs that 'reviews' Twitter. I've written about Ted's Twitter Review post earlier.

I love that this ongoing video conversation can be ported elsewhere -- anywhere -- on the web, and more, that anyone can join in.

Any time.

You dig?

A Public Domain Reminder

Thanks to Grace Piper for the inspirational link.

Was also inspired to bring Archive.org to the attention of director Raymond de Felitta @ his fabulous film / film / music history blog.

Grace Piper's Fearless Cooking N96 Beta

Here's Grace Piper's Qik player, to which she's narrowcasting live with her own Beta-test N96.

Last night I watched a movie in one tab, with Grace's Qik page open in another.

Soon began to hear laughter & voices obviously not part of the movie.

Startled, I jumped & became briefly nervous, wondering where in heaven's name the voices were coming from, but soon realized it was only Grace & friends; with a Qik page open, live broadcasts automatically update and come through. Inadvertently followed Grace throughout her Thanksgiving Eve shenanigans. Fun stuff.

Have long lamented being unable to broadcast live with AT&T's 8525, and to the end of ending said lamentation, have often checked with Qik's 'Supported Phones' page, where they've just recently begun to delve into software for pocket pc's and smart phones. With the arrival of my own Beta N96, I shall have a chance to see how this amazing application can work.

Not 'commerce' but rather, 'commonwealth'.

Oh.

Yeah.

I get it now.

Testing Blip.FM blog publication. Already integrated into Twitter, I like being able to embed a song in the blog. Let's see...

Photo by Cecelia B (I think). Her Mum and Da are so proud.

Folks will be able to easily blog this image if they wish.

Easily touched and shared.

Come play with us over @ Flickr.

Yes, we're getting really good tracks.

Yes indeed.

Many compromises and imperfections, but...it's all there (mostly).

Tired but satisfied.

Make Media Any Time, Any Where w/Seesmic as tool

Posted earlier the beginning of a conversation about my process of being part of "City Island" with Seesmic as conversational film making tool.

It's been a while since I played @ Seesmic, but their player - to which one may reply in video without ever leaving my page - brilliant - has grown up. Come of age.

All you need is a webcam, Camtwist, and a Seesmic account.

Everybody on set's got one.

Most sets have wi-fi.

Show folks what's what in 3 minutes or less.

It's really fucking easy.

We're all film makers, damnit. Superior technicians.

Why wouldn't we make media?

The question is: can we do it right? Will production trust us with the responsibility? Will something beautiful be made of it one day? What will the unions make of this? Are we not all bloggers / videobloggers / still photographers / prop masters / film makers?

Cheap tools & technology, baby.

Should we not reap benefits from this expanded endeavor all the way around?

Seesmic.

Think high-tech, lo-fi.

Think ubiquitous.

Seesmic gets Purpose @ Mogulus

Been playing with Mogulus for a while toward live broadcast options.

This fellow has created a workflow we're talking about over in Seesmic.

Mogulus has a long way to go, but the seeds are there.

Can't wait until spring flourishes.
