And now, Frapper's in the game with Twitterami. You guessed it, found out about it reading Twitter posts. Thanks, Scoble.
I prefer being ahead of the curve, and being ahead or near the head of the curve is something Twitter makes easier.
Due caution: it's windy here.
Used Frapper with good success with Road Node 101 and also using it to plot Robert Smithson's world-wide earthworks for a Have Money Will Vlog project-in-progress called "ArtSmash".
Always one for multitasking, this excerpt from "The Faux Parade" is part of a continuing meditation on media, celebrity & community, not to mention the kickoff of a cocktail party that commenced at the end of the parade. Fact is, there are more layers to this piece than I can comfortably address here.
The sub-context of the remark that the wee lass, "...wanted to come down and find the soldiers so she could play with them," makes me weep. Every time.
Featured are Agnes & Benny of The Charleston (Williamsburg's best pizza / music joint), you'll also meet my friend Anice (way in the background) and poet/engineer buddy, Steve. This excerpt covers our 2nd and 3rd stops along the parade route.
Got Flip4mac in order to QT all those WMV files hanging around the PC hard drive. It works great, allowing the import of WMV's into iMovie and compression with fast start. Whoo-whoo.
A paean to those who work the graveyard shift, and a bit of a look into the quieter upper reaches of Staten Island. I love my job, but have been known to utter an impassioned if quietly-spoken, "Make it stop," at 3 a.m. as have most of my colleagues.
There was a time in my early writing career when going to the post office meant sending submissions to poetry magazines. The anticipation, excitement, & fear were all part of the experience. When the plexiglass & cameras appeared, visiting the USPS lost its charm. Thankfully I no longer have to hawk my works over the transom and my neighborhood PO harkens back to the days when not everyone was treated as a potential criminal. Thank goodness.
The music is military code for "mail call".
POST NOTE 10/07 - the Garfield PO is no longer in operation.
My next-door neighbor, Global Stitching, has some really amazing women working there. They despair that I'm not 'getting any,' and rhapsodize that "chicki-chicki" is muy bueno. Jackie likes to sing, so I hear her sing on and off all day. It's my goal to make her comfortable enough to sing for the camera.
Music: "See Lyin' Woman" by Christine & Katherine Shipp.
Yes, some of Deborah's eggs are green. Deborah's a church buddy of my dear Mom. She brings eggs for the family. Really, really good eggs from chickens that run free.
Realize it's important to make 'real' food connections here in New Jersey (suburban Manhattan). There's nothing like farm eggs and things grown by people you know.
Today, mushroom soup.
Made the mushroom stock from 1/2# regular mushrooms. Add water to cover. Simmer 1 hour. Strain liquid, removing mushrooms. Continue to simmer the liquid for another half hour, adding one beef bullion cube.
In the meantime, saute 1/3 C. diced onions with 1 t. suger in 2 T. butter until onions begin to brown, then add 1/4# thin-sliced shitake mushrooms for a couple mintues, until the mushrooms are shiny.
Add it all together and you have a super fresh mushroom soup.
Add a dash of half and half if you like cream of mushroom.
Add some green onions "for pretty" and it's not only tasty, but beautiful.
