8 Comtek MRC-82 Receivers + 2 Comtek M-72 Transmitters

8 Comtek MRC-82 receivers + 2 Comtek M-72 transmitters, includes antennae, 6 cables and numbered cases.

As is. They were working last time I used them a year ago except a couple of the on/off and battery indicator lights are funky, and one on/off toggle is wonky, but eventually turns on.

$200 OBO for $3K worth of wireless listening pleasure.
Formats available: MPEG-4 Video (.m4v)

The Marketing of "City Island"

Director Raymond De Felitta is in the throes of preparing "City Island" for release in the United States by screening it all over the planet (Poland, Brazil, etc.), including an "OTX screening" in Paramus, NJ.

Of the "City Island" Paramus screening, Raymond says in his blog:

I hate to be the one to tell you (being as I'm the creator of the subject of this little lab experiment) but our movie scored a mind-boggling 91 percent approval rating.

Movies that score 61% are considered to be doing well.

Just saying.

If you're interested in a look behind the curtain that cloaks the mysterious process of marketing and distributing films, Raymond's telling all over at his blog. Check it out.

One of the producers writes of the screening:

I have been told by many savvy insiders that they have never heard of a film scoring so high in a test screening.

Very good news indeed; and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

John Cameron Mitchell on "Rabbit Hole"

".... a beautiful, resonant instrument that can respond to gentle guidance."

Sometimes, you get lucky. Sometimes everyone gets lucky.

This was one of those productions.

I Suck @ Sound Generosity :: Really?

This guy writes this post about me over at the pro sound newsgroup:

I can't tell you how many sound mixers basically, ignored me, even to
this day... It didn't stop me, I just never had a real apprenticeship
and ended up just buying the gear, and jumping in.. mistakes and all.

I'll show you a wounderfull example of this "shun" in action by a lot of
the sound mixers out there.

Go over to, Jan McLaughlin's website..
http://fauxpress.blogspot.com/

Introduce yourself as a follower of the blog, you'll get a nice email
back, ect... Then tell her your an aspiring sound mixer! BAM! That
will be the last contact you have... A real shame.

-bill

He must be thinking of some other 'Jan McLaughlin' else he's as much of a jerk in his opening email communications with me as he is above.

Help me out here, people; I've helped a LOT of you with sound advice.

Speak up in the comments please.

How do YOU get and keep the attention of possible mentors?

I got my first sound mentor by giving him and his sound team 4 months of 75-hour weeks for nothing but cappucinos; in all that time the mixer didn't speak to me at all until my last day.

_____
POST NOTE: Of course, it appears comments for THIS POST are borked. Just when I really need / want 'em. Murphy's law.

Porting a Fa_ebook Video Post :: It's a Wrap

On the occasion of wrapping the fine film "city Island" recorded this video @ The Facebooks.

Wound up wearing the sleep mask to the wrap party as hat. Um-hm.

I see now why The Facebooks is a good tool for the job.

Re-Vlog :: Ted Hope's NYC DIY Days Dinner

Transparency and community in film making as inspired by web possibilities [Shhh: Web 2.0].

Ted describes his blog -- whence comes the enclosed potluck dinner video -- like this:

We are on the verge of a new film culture and infrastructure, driven by both the creators and the audiences. We must accept that being a filmmaker means taking responsibility for our films all the way through the process. Building the new infrastructure is the first step towards real media independence.

Micro-budgeted, crowd-sourced, long-tailed, self-distributed feature film makers speak to the evolving business model.

In this Part 1 of 3 DYI Dinner are found the diners' introductions. Diners include:

Safety Meeting :: Brooklyn Navy Yard

VIDEO_187

Spent yesterday morning in Brooklyn Navy Yard where folks really, truly work hard.

All crew were issued hard hats and safety glasses.

Yup.

Awe-inspiring.

Seen is the amazing Steven Fierberg, cinematographer, and heard, the classic NY AD, T. Sean Ferguison, along with most of the crew of "How to Make it In America". Fingers crossed that it gets picked up by HBO for next season.

Amy's Film "The Guitar" Opens in NY, NY

Amy Redford's "The Guitar" makes its theatrical debut this week @ THE SUNSHINE CINEMA | 143 East Houston Street | NY, NY.

The trailer's fabulous, as were Amy and Saffron to work with.

HERE is the movie website.

This is the description of the movie from the email:

"The Guitar" is the story of one woman's spiritual, emotional and creative transformation. After being diagnosed with a terminal illness, fired from her thankless job and abandoned by her boyfriend, Melody "Mel" Wilder (Saffron Burrows) blows her savings and maxes out her credit cards to pursue her dreams. The life affirming experiences she encounters on her voyage transform her irrevocably.

Would love it if Amy and the movie had a blog, like Raymond does...
