Frank Langella's on Broadway

[picture source]

Frank. What a guy.

Here he is on WNYC's Leonard Lopate Show.

I could listen to his voice every day. All day.

There's a lot of 'process' information in Lopate's interview. Heads up, actors and directors among you.

Maggie's Tattoo

A brief tour of a lovely tattoo.

Maggie's one of the most talented folks with whom I've worked lately. She's been interviewed by the Faux Press before, HERE. This is a quick tour of her tattoo, from "The Little Prince".

Pixelodeon :: June 9 - 10 :: American Film Institute, LA

Oh, my, goodness.

Have been so busy with the launch and creation of Wburg.TV that I wholly missed the development of this film festival by folks about whom I care.

Aw.

Rats.

Pixelodeon
.

Just perused the web site. Here's something of what it's about:

On June 9-10 in Los Angeles, California at the American Film Institute (AFI), we will have three theaters screening videos on movie-theater sized screens. Two of the theaters will screen videos selected by curators according to a theme they have selected. The third theater is the Community Theater, which is curated by you (yes, YOU) on our wiki.

Sounds amazing.

Live in LA? Visiting LA June 9-10? Check it out.

Keeping the vloggersation going.

Wishing y'all the best and that I could be there with you.

This, THIS is the kinda thing that is the viable alternative to competition.

Natural Light :: Ode to Cinematographers :: a Film Poem

Natural Light: Ode to Cinematographers In the film industry, we often race or fight the light. This short poetry film commemorates that moment when natural light conflicts with beauty and duty. A "four-by" is a 4' x 4' light cutting tool used by grips to sculpt light.

Williamsburg, Brooklyn - There's a Reason Wburg is HOT

Ideas and inspiration are executed and palpable in Wburg. Go stand on any corner and close your eyes for a minute to feel it. Let it move you. That's what happened to 11211 Magazine and Wburg.TV: we were inspired to action by the place itself.

THE PRETENTIOUS FESTIVAL Williamsburg, Brooklyn, June 1-30. Does any company (outside of Les Freres Corbusier) market its shows better than the Brick Theater? This outfit understands the first rule of getting attention: You got to have a gimmick. The last two summers have brought us the $ellout Festival and the Moral Values Festival, but this year they may have topped themselves, ironically (I think) embracing the black-turtleneck-wearing aesthete inside us all. The shows include the self-explanatory “Macbeth Without Words”; “The Children of Truffaut,” about ’70s art house cinema; and John DeVore’s “Sophisticates,” about two self-important bloggers. In his press release, the co-artistic director, Michael Gardner, boasts, “The Brick is as self-indulgent and impenetrable as the most oblique and experimental performance organizations in the city.” Them’s fighting words. My Heart's in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Lived for a decade in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. My heart's still there, though I now live elsewhere.

While there, I was a contributing writer for 11211 Magazine, an endeavor for which I hold deep respect for its early open source editorial policy that continues with a new open editorial video project:

Deeply happy for the opportunity to revisit Wburg more frequently as we gear up for the launch of Wburg.TV (and its associated Wburg.TV videoblog) this Saturday. My goal is to turn advertising on its head as I bring vlogging principles into the advertising space with vlogvertising.

If you're going to be in Billyburg on Saturday, hope you'll stop by and say, "Hello!" 'cause we're holding a funeral for advertising.

Advertising is dead. We come not to praise it, but to bury it.

Wburg.TV Press :: Vlogvertising

The "Billyburg Jumbotron" - "seething with hipster irony" no less - begins to generate buzz.

We're not quite ready to launch the site yet, but if you want a sneak peek... O

Here's a link to the vlog associated with the site: Vlogvertising.

The landscape for those alighting from the Bedford Avenue L Station has some new features. As evidence we offer (1.) the Finger Building, which is now getting a red brick look with which it shall forever flip bird and (2.) what we'll call the Billyburg Minitron, a flat screen TV that went up last week. The TV isn't visible during daylight, so clearly the advertisers are aiming for the after-dark, in the shade and rainy day crowd. (Catch some action shots of the erection and some night shots here
