Movlogging Moments :: Videoconference Notes

I'm filming David Howell as he shows us one of his frustrations with shooting with his mobile phone.

At about 55 minuntes into the conference we begin to talk about movlogging.

Despite the many aesthetic complaints about video shot on the mobile phone (Size. Resolution. Compression. Audio.), there are things you can do to work around those objections.

1) Keep the phone within 2 feet of your talking subject

2) Best sound is obtained from behind the lens

3) Camera movement must be fluid slow or ultra fast

4) Edit in camera

5) Learn to express yourself in 30-second bits. Not more than thirty seconds of video can be sent to your host via MMS.

6) Keep the camera in closeup. Long shots don't translate.
