Leper Colony Theory of Film Making

Heard from my friend, N, who offers his theory on what it is we do. I've always thought film making a variation on sadomasochism, but N's description fits too well not to take note. Thanks, N.

The film world is like a leper colony. We've all caught this
inexplicable disease that takes little parts of you as time goes by.

We go to these places called film sets (editing suites, pitch meetings
whatever...), and we don't get cured but we feel better going somewhere
where people have the same affliction.
