Goshen, IN
For Meg.
Spent a month in Goshen IN two and a half years ago. Passing closely by on the way to Chi-town, decided I should detour there for lunch with Nick and Charity, the owners of Southside Soda Shop, 1122 South Main St., Goshen IN 46528. They were incredibly supportive of the film we were making as the writer had grown up in Goshen and had in his youth worked there. They made us feel very much at home in their wee, charming town.
One night, Nick and Charity phoned and invited as many as were interested of the crew to come on over to the soda shop. They'd already closed for the night, but opened it up for us, whereupon they taught us how to make an official Philly Cheese Steak sandwich (Nick is originally from Philadelphia) and their signature curly fries. A bottle of vodka was pulled from under the counter and hilarity ensued.
It was really great to see them again. Their daughter Nicole who turns 21 the end of this month has been having some serious health problems. I told them they'd be in my thoughts. I hope you will keep them in your thoughts too as they struggle to bring her back to health.
Also in my thoughts is Josh Wolf.
