Lorraine's Voice

One of the first things I did when I got a web cam several years ago,was to record a poem I'd written in response to an episode we'd recently finished shooting.

The heart of the show was based around a disturbing rape scene played with distinction by Lorraine Bracco.

I'd noticed her amazing multiple-toned voice before, but never more than when she screamed her character's pain on set in an echo chamber of a parking garage that day.

Since then, I've become aware that there are a lot of actors who have this capacity for multiple tonality in their speaking voices. Wonder if that might be a criterion for success on the boards.

For what it's worth, a visit to the recent past.
