  1. "Giving away works I love hurts in the way that lets me know it's the right thing to do" i was really struck by that statement. it's my thing to think about today. maybe the best thing we could do. i say that because the piece itself immediately inspired a half dozen variations on the theme that could become something. and then i thought maybe it's not so much giving things away as it is sowing the seeds for future possibility. broadcasting was the way farmers used to speak of seeds randomly sown, like in wheat fields. so you're sort of broadcasting your "seeds", and it is springtime, so it all fits together. Today i'll think of you as jannie appleseed! sowing the seeds for the growth of make-your-own media. (the length of this comment is more email-y, but here we are and there you go...)

  2. Yeah. Giving stuff away is a Big Idea to be sure.

Fighting the urge to collect & keep those things we especially love goes against some innate grain or other.

Fear of scarcity? Yeah. That and something else. But what is it? I think it has to do more with nurture than nature.
