The Faux Press :: Ze Frank and Jay Rosen on "On the Media"
Check out this September 8, 2006 On the Media interview with Ze Frank. Don't know who Ze Frank is? For shame! Go have a look & listen to Ze's painfully funny "The Show".
In the same On the Media, Jay Rosen speaks about New Assignment.net HERE. Check out Rosen's recent brainstorm for networked journalism. The possibilities make me both shiver and grin.
A one-two news-entertainment punch from On the Media. I love their weekly podcast.
THIS is the On the Media RSS feed.
THIS is Ze Frank's RSS feed.
New Assignment hasn't a feed in place yet, but Rosen's Press Think does.

NOTE to OTM:
- On The Media's media links point to ram format files that won't flow down bloggers' RSS pipes. Once subscribed, however, shows arrive on your hard drive as mp3's. Wish the online links went to the mp3 files rather than RealOne or RealPlayer.
- Furthermore, current On The Media shows have no obvious link to a permanent archive page for blog purposes. I can only link you to their main page. Won't do you much good next week. Sigh.

I don't know whether NPR just doesn't 'get' RSS, or whether they choose to baffle their listeners about it in hopes they'll give up and buy through Audible or be satisfied with streaming. Somethings's wrong when all of a sudden a subscription is dropped, which is what happened to me with On the Media, or when an excellent podcast like Benjamin Walker's 'Theory of Everything' goes out as some type of mp3 that doesn't play on many players until converted. (TOE must wear the NPR label altNPR, which translates to 'stepchild not quite up to NPR standards,' or so I see it.
ReplyDeleteSorry to rant, Jan, but it's a sore subject with me. And you started it, so there.
Oh, rant on! By all means, rant.
ReplyDeletePerhaps they'll hear you screaming.
What do you mean your subscription was dropped? Details, please...
Obviously some issues with NPR-related material.
Let's get it all out in the open :)
