iPod Audio / Griffin's iTalk
ipod audio
Discussion on the Yahoogroups videoblogging email list around best practices to record audio in the field prompted me to upload this image from the top of a 20G iPod.
I'm very happy with the Griffin iTalk mic/speaker that attaches to both in/outputs you see here. Having two spots to attach lends needed stability to the affair.
I'm not unhappy with how the iPod records, though if you edit and compress again, the sound loses quite a lot of intelligibility. iPod records @ 128 kbps bit rate and 8000 kHz sample rate, to .wav files. Rumour has it that there's a way to up the sample rate to 44.1 kHz and I look forward to funding out whether this is in fact true.
