Alaska's Oil: A Shell Game

Oil, oil. Who's got the oil?

In the coming months, our President will fight with Congress to open the Alaskan refuge for drilling oil. Democrats have blocked this Bush-pushed plan before, but with high oil prices and the Congress in Republican hands, Bush may feel that opening the Alaskan wildlife refuge to drilling is a "now or never" proposition.

The confusing thing is, the oil companies have in recent years - in the face of a secret drilling report from the 80's - largely withdrawn their financial support for such a move.

What's the deal with that? The New York Times article suggests that the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge represents the first domino to fall toward toppling the offshore oil dominoes near California and Florida.

Do some research and decide for yourself.
