Re-Vlog :: WalkingMan :: Net Cinema Poetics

Guys over @ Taylor Street Studio, Soluble Fish, and Joel Sugarman are making stuff together.

Elegantly done, fellas.

Methinks this was all shot on cell phone.

Video, moving, & mapping for purposes of storytelling.

Streamlined, real-time-to-web, yet long-lasting film making.

This is IT; this is what excites me for development, production and marketing stories.

What kinds of stories can we really 'see' and ' hear' when delivered and taken in from a web site, cell phone, or iPod?

This kind of film making reminds me of Michael Figgis' cutting-edge "Time Code" -- one of my favorite films.

Figgis is a good pianist.

Found Will Leurs' project from his comment over @ one of Ted Hope's blogs that 'reviews' Twitter. I've written about Ted's Twitter Review post earlier.

Signs of the Times :: The Economy Sux

.:. Faux Press .:.

Yeah.

Remember when neraly every car in NYC featured hand-written signs taped to a rear window that said things like, "Don't bother. Everything's been stolen already," or, "Sorry, nothing left."

People react to having been violated by making signs.

Signs of the times.

Mr. Archer is one of my favorite human beings, for he invariably makes me smile.

This, uploaded to & hosted @ Flickr (Pro - thanks to The Jeffrey), and Flickr auto-posted the portrait here.

Have been making cell phone-generated movlogs since early 2006, and still find the process of shooting and posting in the moment astonishingly satisfying. Moreover, love honing edit-in-camera skills; get to intuit when to press 'record' and 'stop', to tell a compelling story in as few frames as possible.

On a technical note, was grateful that Flickr could transcode the 8525's native m4v files into flash. The workflow has been frustrated since buying the phone. Some hosting / uploading services I use can't seem to handle the native format, including Blip.tv. I'm not surprised though. My comprehensively-codec'ed MacBook Pro can't play the files at all until and unless I change the file extension to .3gp

Dad's Dog :: Wee Meg

.:. Faux Press .:.

Wee Meg's going to be invited into the house so Dad will have an indoor pet pal by next winter. As soon as he figures out how he can have her in and out without messing up the floor with muddy paw prints, etc.

Meg's is a barely-contained glee.

I aspire to that.

The border collies always bunked in the kennels until a favorite - Glen - began to lose his eyesight, and they brought him inside until his passing. Then Moss too was brought in for his retirement days.

She's one of the most loving dogs he's ever had, with a sunny disposition sure to boost Pop's spirits, much as Mom's Pipsqueak cat has done for her.

On-set wit & wisdom movlogged from an undisclosed set location.

Keepin' it real.

Putting increasing numbers of posts into the public domain. Giving away works I love hurts in the way that lets me know it's the right thing to do.
